The Exchange Club Family Skills Center offers the following services in the Birmingham area: Nurturing Program A ten week parenting course for parents and their children. This program targets parents with children ages five through twelve. The Nurturing 5-12 Program is offered on a continuing basis at the The Exchange Club Family Skills Center located at 2300 10th Court South on Thursday evenings from 6:15p.m. until 8:30p.m. These classes are open to the public. Positive Parenting Groups These are education/support groups which are open and ongoing. They meet weekly throughout the year, with the exception of holidays. These are best suited for parents who need more flexibility with their attendance. There are several classes for parents to choose from including one for parents of teens. Parent Aide Program Home based parent education that matches a parent to a parent aide. Parent Aides serve parents of children ages birth to twelve (you must have custody of the child and he/she must live with you). Parent Aides work with families for about one year. Speaker's Bureau A service that provides talks to civic, church, social service or other groups about various topics related to parenting or child abuse. This service has a $25 suggested donation. Parents Anonymous Support Groups Parents, a Parent Leader, and a Staff Facilitator gather together on a weekly basis for group discussion and support. Parents determine topics discussed based on their needs. Group members support each other through listening and discussion. Good News!!! |
